  • BJCP Tasting Exam was on 7/31/2022. Thanks to all Baton Rouge participants in the exam, including David W, Tre’ H, Nick S, and Paul P. The class was 9 first-time takers and 3 re-takers seeking to improve their rank. We are looking to do another exam in 2023 after the results of this one have been released. Special thanks to the super awesome LA Homebrew shop for hosting the exam during Clash of the Carboys

HOMEBREW COMPETITIONS

Clash of the Carboys – Judging is complete. Winners will be announced at 4pm at Agile Brewing. Come join us if you can make it or catch the livestream on YouTube.

Brewstock Fest in New Orleans; 100 entry cap; all styles accepted; $8 per entry; only Best Of Show medals to be awarded (3 total). Deadline is September 1st. Paul P will be muling RSB entries to NOLA. Get entries to Paul P by August 15th.

Robert’s Cove Germanfest deadline is August 27th. They are currently accepting entries on Reggiebeer.

Tour de Brew – Bicycle Brew Club competition has several overlapping high-gravity ales. Deadline is October 28th. All styles accepted.

About Kevin Cowan

Kevin Cowan is a craft beer enthusiast who specializes in customer service, logistics and results. Kevin was born in Forrest City, Arkansas, but is a long-time resident of the Greater Baton Rouge area. He graduated from Denham Springs High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University. During his 28-year military career, Kevin earned numerous qualifications, to include Journalist, Combat Medical Specialist, Public Affairs Officer, Environmental Officer and Human Resources Officer. Through education, training and experience, Kevin developed a keen ability to approach any situation and produce winning results. Familiarization with and excelling in numerous career fields has allowed Kevin to become flexible; a keen ability to meet any challenge or development. Kevin’s passion for craft beer spiked when he was hired to run the warehouse for Tin Roof Brewing Company in 2012. That passion has grown over the years and now he spreads that passion by providing top-notch customer service as General Manager for Keg Solutions. In his spare time, Kevin is an award-winning homebrewer and serves on the board of directors for RedStick Brewmasters, Baton Rouge’s oldest and most decorated homebrew club. He currently lives in Baton Rouge with his wife, Veronica and their Cocker Spaniel, Lil’ Man and their Chi-Weenie, Hershey Nugget.
