  • Bataille des Bieres hosted by The Dead Yeast Society – February 5th
  • RSB Chili Cookoff at LA Homebrew – February 6th – Chili must contain at least 1 beer, preferably a homebrew – Bring entries starting at 2 p.m.; judging to begin at 3 p.m. – Label any allergens – Club will provide bowls and spoons
  • Basin Brew Fest hosted by Morgan City Main Street – March 26th
  • Zapp’s International Beer Fest hosted by LSU Rural Life Museum – April 2nd
  • Boot Brew Fest hosted by Lakeview Park and Beach – April 23rd
  • RedStick BrewOff and Crawfish Boil – April 30th at LA Homebrew – Beer styles for the competition are Kveik Yeast Beer (any style) and DIPA
  • BJCP Judge Testing – Tasting Exam is scheduled for May 22. Online test must be completed/passed prior, then slots will be filled on a first-come first basis. Contact Paul P. to be added to the list for further information.
  • Beer Prize Pool – Gift Cards to LA Homebrew will be given out at the end of the year from TWO random drawings, ONE for Festivals and ONE for Competitions. Entries are received by entering beer into a sanctioned, judged homebrew competition (paid entry receipt required) AND/OR by providing a keg of beer for any festival in which RSB participates.

Bluebonnet Brew Off 2022 – Entry window has closed. Log in to check status of entries.

Boot Brew Fest – Entry window is 2/1/2022 to 3/5/2022

Lunar Rendezbrew – Registration opens February 19; entries due March 20; RSB will haul entries to the competition to save on shipping

National Homebrew Competition (NHC) – Registration open March 22-29

Clash of the Carboys – Entry deadline is July 22; High Gravity Ales division entries should be brewed early if possible (Wee Heavy, English Barleywine, Imperial Stout, etc

Tour de Brew – Bicycle Brew Club competition has several overlapping high-gravity ales. The date is TBD, but is expected to be in October or November

About Kevin Cowan

Kevin Cowan is a craft beer enthusiast who specializes in customer service, logistics and results. Kevin was born in Forrest City, Arkansas, but is a long-time resident of the Greater Baton Rouge area. He graduated from Denham Springs High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University. During his 28-year military career, Kevin earned numerous qualifications, to include Journalist, Combat Medical Specialist, Public Affairs Officer, Environmental Officer and Human Resources Officer. Through education, training and experience, Kevin developed a keen ability to approach any situation and produce winning results. Familiarization with and excelling in numerous career fields has allowed Kevin to become flexible; a keen ability to meet any challenge or development. Kevin’s passion for craft beer spiked when he was hired to run the warehouse for Tin Roof Brewing Company in 2012. That passion has grown over the years and now he spreads that passion by providing top-notch customer service as General Manager for Keg Solutions. In his spare time, Kevin is an award-winning homebrewer and serves on the board of directors for RedStick Brewmasters, Baton Rouge’s oldest and most decorated homebrew club. He currently lives in Baton Rouge with his wife, Veronica and their Cocker Spaniel, Lil’ Man and their Chi-Weenie, Hershey Nugget.
